What You Need for the Puffs:

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 eggs

What You Need for the Filling:

  • 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 small box (3.4 oz) of instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup milk

How to Make the Puffs:

  1. Cook the Dough:

    • Put the butter, water, and vanilla in a pot and heat until it boils.
    • Add the flour to the pot and stir it constantly until it forms a ball and comes away from the sides of the pot.
    • Take the pot off the heat and let the dough cool for a few minutes.
  2. Add the Eggs:

    • Beat in the eggs one at a time until the dough is smooth and combined.
  3. Bake the Puffs:

    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop the dough onto the sheet to make about 8 puffs.
    • Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 40 minutes, or until golden brown.
  4. Cool the Puffs:

    • Take the puffs out of the oven and poke a small hole in each with a toothpick.
    • Turn the oven off, put the puffs back inside with the door slightly open, and let them cool. This keeps them from collapsing.

How to Make the Filling:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, pudding mix, and milk.
  2. Beat everything together until the mixture becomes thick.

Assemble the Cream Puffs:

  • Slice each puff in half. Fill the middle with the prepared filling.
  • For an extra touch, you can drizzle melted chocolate on top or sprinkle them with powdered sugar.
